SKARTS launched Creative Conversations in 2013 with the goal of featuring local artists and thought-leaders in our community. Our hope is to provide an entertaining vehicle for the artists to share their journeys and show how the arts transform and enrich us all.
Each program features a well-known moderator conversing with an artist, musician, performer, producer, director, writer or thought-leader. The program format for approximately 100 people allows for audience participation and a deeper look into the life and work of the speaker.
With the moderator, the audience will explore how artists create, live and draw inspiration.
Artists and interviewers have included:
- 2013 Patience Brewster, Artist and entrepreneur interviewed by actress Laura Austin
- 2014 Bruce Coville, children’s author and educator interviewed by artist Patience Brewster
- 2015, David Ying and Elinor Freer, former artistic directors of the Skaneateles Festival interviewed by entrepreneur Holland Gregg
- 2017 Frank Malfitano, founder and producer of the Syracuse Jazz Fest interviewed by Carrie Lazarus of NewsChannel 9.
